The following is a format for a hardship letter sample. Do not use this format word-for-word, but use it to help you create one in your own words. Also, be sure to send the hardship letter by certified mail with a return receipt requested. This will provide proof that you sent the letter. The sample below is generic, so fill in your specific information where you see the brackets [ ]. For example, you should replace [insert your particular problem, such as behind on payments] with something like fall 3 months behind on payments.
